Topic: Salvation

We voluntarily live a vowed life as a grateful response to God’s saving acts.

When the world falls apart, God recognises the pain, the despair, and the anger, and gifts us with faith, with an assurance that God’s power of love will yet prevail, that God will accomplish the justice and the peace we long for.

Destructive evil is all around us and within us, but God has not given up on us.

What God has done and is doing is cause for celebration.

Sin seeks to enslave our bodies, but if we will take on Christ’s yoke we are incorporated into Christ’s body for redemption.

We are saved by our trust in God, and the only basis we are offered for our trust is the cross.

We are called to live the lifestyle of the era that has not quite dawned – values found in Jesus Christ that will bring life to the world.

Being saved can be painful, but its goal, becoming a purified people who can worship rightly without fear, is the ultimate reward.

The need for liberation for the poor and oppressed is obvious, but for the comfortable and successful, the enslavements to consumerism, power and hardness of heart are harder to discern and take the intervention of God to break free from.

Many of the stories of Jesus’ life, such as the entry into Jerusalem, can only be properly understood in light of the death and resurrection of Jesus, and so the church has a vital role in the revelation of the gospel.

All that is required to inherit all the fullness of the Kingdom is to accept the invitation and throw yourself wholeheartedly into the celebration.

Acceptance of God’s merciful presence and Christ’s ways will save us from selfishness and self-destructiveness.
