Preacher: Wai Kwong Sun
Wai Kwong Sun
The Rev Dr Wai Kwong Sun (孫偉光牧师) is a prominent, semi-retired Christian minister who served for over 30 years in pastoral leadership across Hong Kong and Australia. He is widely recognised for his contributions to multicultural ministries and his leadership roles within the Australian Baptist community. Wai Kwong is a Past-President of the Baptist Union of Victoria. He led the Chinese Congregation at Mitcham Baptist Church and served at Syndal Baptist Church, both located in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. He has researched and evaluated multicultural church models within Australian Baptist communities, emphasising harmonious relationships and non-confrontational dialogue. Raised in Hong Kong with family roots in Shandong, Wai Kwong was able to preach fluently in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, and he majored in foreign languages during his university studies before dedicating himself to theological work and pastoral ministry. He now operates as a semi-retired ("retired but not idle") minister, frequently conducting guest speaker sessions, seminars, and Q&A panels across Australian states.
