Preacher: Te Kitohi Pikaahu
At Open Icon Baptist Church, we value great preaching — preaching that engages deeply, humbly and honestly with Jesus, the Bible, and the pain and joy of living in the real world. And since going permanently online, we have been able to welcome great preachers from all over the world without having to wait for them to visit our shores. Click here to meet the inspirational preachers depicted in the gallery above, none of whom have preached for us!

Te Kitohi Pikaahu
The Right Reverend Te Kitohi "Kito" Wiremu Pikaahu ONZM is a prominent Māori Anglican bishop in New Zealand. Since 2002, he has served as the Bishop of Te Pīhopatanga o Te Tai Tokerau, overseeing the Māori Anglican Church (Mīhingare) across Northland and Auckland. Consecrated at the age of 37, he was recognised by the Archbishop of Canterbury as the youngest bishop in the global Anglican Communion at the time. He stands as one of the longest-serving indigenous bishops worldwide. Kito has chaired the Anglican Indigenous Network of the worldwide Anglican Communion since 2015. He uses his platform to promote the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as a religious leadership framework. He serves as the founding Chair of Te Whare Ruruhau o Meri Trust, an organisation established in 1992 to provide crisis support and holistic healing for victims of family and sexual violence. He actively advises the New Zealand Bible Society on developing a contemporary version of Te Paipera Tapu (The Holy Bible) tailored for younger generations of Te Reo Māori speakers.
