Andrea Klimt

Prof Dr Andrea Klimt is a Baptist theologian and has been rector of the Elstal Theological Seminary in Germany since 2023. After studying theology at the Theological Seminary in Hamburg and at the Universities of Hamburg and Vienna, she served as pastor of the Baptist Christ Church in Hamburg-Altona from 1987 to 1991. In 1992, she moved to Austria and began working with students on behalf of the Austrian Baptist Union. This led, among other things, to the church planting project: Church Vienna in 1999, where she served as pastor from 2005 to 2014. In 2001, she began developing diaconal work within the Austrian Baptists. At the same time, she completed training as a life and social counselor, business trainer, bibliodrama facilitator and trainer, and systemic coach. In 2003, Klimt earned a Master's degree in Protestant Theology in Vienna, and in 2014, she received her doctorate in Protestant Theology under Gottfried Adam and Anna-Katharina Szagun, also in Vienna. From October 2007 to June 2009, she lectured at the University of Vienna as part of the Bibliodrama Academy program. Since 2014, she has been Professor of Practical Theology with a focus on catechetics, pastoral care, and pastoral theology at the Elstal Theological Seminary, and since 2023, she has served as its rector. Andrea Klimt is married to the Austrian Baptist pastor Walter Klimt and has two children.
